Matt's article sums it up pretty well... I thought the Kings started off well and for most of the 1st half I think we saw more what they will be playing like, starting Henry, Madge, Harvey, Lazare and Crosswhite and while they still didn't look inside much, they were working much harder to get their outside shooters open, which really didn't happen last two seasons, but considering the coach, isn't surprising. Harvs was really active on both ends, getting a steal (nearly two) and showing he still has his eye in on the offensive end. Madge's shot looked real good too, which was great to see... Lazare started off slow with a few fumbles, but as reports say, he came good. Still looked a bit clunky, and his shots often didn't look good until they went in, but had some really nice drives, so hopefully he will be a keeper...
I was most looking forward to seeing Henry and while he didn't disappoint, he didn't really impress either... Quick hands, and eager on D, but has a tendency to let players get in front of him to try to pick their back pocket... He'll learn that he can't get away with that as easily as OS soon (I hope). Also had his shot blocked a couple of times, once by Rhys Martin, so hopefully he improves as the pre-season goes on...
Was a shame we didn't see more of the new recruits as we had some very weird combos out there at times, but while I'd love to push the 3rd quarter fails onto SoJ, but with Harvs getting rested and Crossy playing very limited minutes, and with the pinpoint shooting from outside, even though they were still looking like they were running at 3/4 speed, the experience of the Hawks always seemed to come good at the right time...
What seemed really strange was how they departed from what was working for them in the 1st half, as Madge ended up with 13, but he already had 11 at halftime, and Bruce's final seconds 3 was his only outside attempt, after opening passing up very open shots...
I hope we can see a bit more Lazare/Crosswhite combo as time goes on as they had flashes of really working nicely together...
Sidenote #1: I like this livestream thing, it saves the games, so hopefully we can see something similar for video streams from other teams (seeing as how hopefully I'll be at all Kings home games)
Sidenote #2: Has there been any word on team captain yet? Harvs was taking an active leadership role in the warm ups pre-game, who else would be an option?
