Once it leaves the NBA, Adidas, as first reported by Canada's TSN, will move on towards the NHL. Actually it already does under the Reebok label, but it will be full-fledged Adidas in 2017 in beating out Under Armour and Nike's Bauer for it:

They may be LA's real pro basketball team since 1984 but the LA Clippers' new logo rated by Chris Creamer's Sportslogos.net visitors as 2015 Worst New Primary Logo of The Year. And its alternate got the worst alternate award. Atlanta's new one was a finalist in the alternate category. I wholeheartedly agree!

Ads on NBA jerseys actually aren't coming fast upon them as the NBA would like:

New 25,000-ft NBA flagship store set up shop in time for Christmas in NYC at 5th Avenue in downtown Manhattan, only one in the US. Fanatics is involved:
    http://www.forbes.com/sites/kurtbade...-store-in-nyc/

ICYMI, Nike plunked down US$1 billion for an 8-year apparel uniform licensing contract with the NBA, a 245% increase from the current Adidas deal, effective 2017. Been the biggest basketball brand on the planet for years with several NBA players in the Nike stable, including the megastars. Not to mention the icon that's Michael Jordan. Which would eliminate the awkwardness. Interesting how Nike Basketball's new brand partnership and those new future designs will be. Adidas will lose its growing visibility but could use their money for further promotion of its basketball star endorsers:
    http://www.cbssports.com/nba/eye-on-...censing-rights

Athletic Knit says in 1984, speaking of Michael Jordan, that he requested the NBA to make longer shorts, causing the league to ditch them. McGregor Sand-Knit made them back then. Another sign of his influence and clout. Part of it had to do with him wearing his North Carolina basketball shorts underneath without sight.

LeBron James wears two numbers: #6 during practices and #23 during games.

Expect some renovations and enhancements in three phases for Minneapolis' Target Center to improve the fan experience and scenery for Timberwolves and Lynx fans starting this summer. Though it will force the Lynx in 2017 to head elsewhere (maybe the Williams Arena at the University of Minnesota). Let's admit it: the original fa?ade for one thing at the Target Center hasn't aged well since its 1990 opening:
    http://arenadigest.com/2016/01/08/ta...ations-on-tap/

You can likely say goodbye to those "wall of suites" soon that makes Atlanta's Philipps Arena unique when coming to Atlanta Hawks, Atlanta Thrashers (bring them back), Atlanta Dream, and Georgia Force (arena football) games in favor of the more conventional encircling version upon renovations:

Golden St., Houston, and Washington launch their Chinese New Year jerseys this season. Why Toronto hasn't? That city has a massive Chinese community. Vancouver would've done likewise if it stayed:

Amazing there's residual effects to winning. Stephen Curry leads NBA players in jerseys sales. Even Kristaps Porzingis made the top 5. Golden St. also tops overall NBA team merchandise with Chicago and Cleveland making the top 5 from October-December 2015. New Clippers wares with that rotten logo somehow made the top 10. Nobody should be buying that NDCELE stuff:

The Sacramento Kings join the small NBA alternate basketball court club with a powder blue court reminiscent of the of the first two the Kings had before the radical 1993 logo change. This court actually is powder blue and will be used on the Kings' Throwback Fridays games donning the powder blue unis. Nice touch of the past before closing the Arco Arena/Sleep Train Arena era and moving into the Golden 1 Center:
    http://news.sportslogos.net/2016/02/...rowback-court/

Miami Heat going back to 1988-1999 throughout February with their original home uniforms with the notable flaming T and the chunky drop-shadow numbering. Except for no longer having the Miami Arena around in Overton. Easily be used regularly today:
    http://news.sportslogos.net/2016/02/...ck-to-the-90s/

Already mentioned earlier here that the Utah Jazz have plans to change their logo for the 2016-17 season, likely back to the traditional jazz note one dating back to New Orleans. This confirms it. But also Detroit and Sacramento both plan to change their primary logos and uniforms in store too. Makes sense with Sacramento as the Kings move to the brand new Golden 1 Center. Interestingly you'll notice, Memphis, Miami, Toronto, Orlando, Washington, Golden St., and Brooklyn will also plan to feature new alternate unis next season during Adidas' final season with the NBA:

Yeah, Sacramento is paying tribute to their earlier powder blue uniforms, an anomaly even now, and the red crown upper/blue half basketball logo (dating back from its last days in Cincinnati) days, which may get an updating in the latter and the former a marketing grab for its final season in their Sleep Train Arena. But would the Kings revert to that when they move to their new Golden 1 Arena next season? Seems clear the current banner with the purple, black, and silver from 1994 that's synonymous with their biggest if fleeting success in Sacramento is on the way out during a planned identity change.

Purple, black, and silver (with maybe some blue added) I think are here to stay with just a branding change. Can't bring back the current uniforms next season as part of the NBA Properties regulations regarding this along with a new wordmark. We could see them powder blues return as an alternate. On the other hand, donning those powder blues for their final home game at the Arco (now Sleep Train) Arena may act as a final nod to its largely putrid past instead of what's to come next season. Perhaps we'll see the royal blue road ones (1990-1994) get their turn.

Cliff Martinez posts on Chris Creamer's Sports Logo website for this after speaking with several Kings reps that there plans to be a combo of the 2 Arco Arena eras with their uniforms with purple staying as primary but turning its shading towards more bluish-purple with powder blue replacing black as the secondary colo(u)r. Go to the Golden 1 Center's website and notice the seating renderings as powder blue:
    http://news.sportslogos.net/2016/03/...17-nba-season/

Memphis' upcoming City Pride jersey next season likely is short sleeve with wordmark and numbering of jerseys taken from the Vancouver/Memphis period of 1998-2004 and the original primary logo using the current Grizz colo(u)rs:

Fantastic oral history read about the then-sad sack and nearly iredeemable New Jersey Nets' attempts at rebranding over in East Rutherford back in the 1990s to boost fan support in New Jersey that almost seriously happened into the New Jersey Swamp Dragons, complete with all the 1990s aesthetics you may recall back then. Yeah, it was a terrible idea and never saw light of day:

Also, that new privately-financed Golden St. Warriors' 18,000-seat arena being built in San Francisco at Marin Bay and opening upon its 2019 return there is named the Chase Center:

Advertising on NBA uniforms looks to very certain for NBA owners' approval for the 2017-18 season when Nike takes over the NBA outfitting:

New Sacramento Kings logos leaked while undergoing trademark filings, which explains the black and white (no actual colo(u)r scheme yet). Actually it's an updating to the classic logo the Royals/Kings had from 1971-1994 with secondary logos included in embarking going into the new Golden 1 Center. Teams don't necessarily reveal their logos until May-June, like around lottery time:

Sacramento makes it official this morning with its new, rather updated/refined retro, logo and the alternate logos in full colo(u)r scheme as the Kings enter "a new era of proud". Purple crown upper with silver half basketball primary one. Also there's a real nice look at the possible road or alternate jersey:

    http://www.slamonline.com/media/slam...0FYJGu5mW8F.97

It's really interesting to read NBA Commissioner Adam Silver's thoughts on why the NBA will part ways with Adidas next year and hook up with Nike because the Swoosh has more of a basketball heart. In addition, he's already seeing what Nike has in store for the NBA, WNBA, and the NBDL in the near future with all the innovations with science, looks, fits, and styles. We may even see the Jordan Jumpman logo, likely with the Michael Jordan-owned Charlotte Hornets. Surely something to look forward to:
    http://www.slamonline.com/man-in-charge/

More insight on the new upcoming Sacramento Kings jerseys as they venture into the new Golden 1 Center. Black will serve as an alternate road uni majority colo(u)r. Wish Prince was still around to approve all the purple:

A little bit of new info on the proposed SoDo downtown Seattle Arena. The final arena renderings were approved back in September when the arena financing and construction place:
    http://legacy.king5.com/story/news/l...vote/71646612/

Bad news for SuperSonics fans eager for their rightful return is that the Seattle City Council votes down yesterday the Seattle Arena 5-4 that would have hold the SuperSonics and potentially NHL expansion franchise in the US Pacific Northwest, thus making it less likely at least for now, the return of NBA basketball and (less likely) some NHL hockey. Nothing wrong was done here from the City Council. This rejection will hurt Seattle's NHL expansion or relocation prospects. Las Vegas, with its just-opened T-Mobile Arena at the Sunset Strip, and the impending arrival of the Las Vegas Black Knights to be officially announced this month and (more importantly) Quebec City for the potential Quebec Nordiques return at the also-recently opened Videotron Centre in front of Seattle makes it harder:

We all know the NBA and Nike will allow ads on their uniforms in 2017. But Fan Duel and Draft Kings, one of which ironically was invested by the NBA, aren't allowed to as daily fantasy companies (and vices, politics, media companies, and rival athletic companies--not unexpected):
    http://thecomeback.com/blog/nba/nba-...advertise.html

Turns out the Detroit Pistons won't present a new logo for next season. Maybe it was an error on Adidas' part. Maybe they eventually will when Nike takes over. Better not be generic --but not that horse with the exhaust pipes from 1994!

Utah Jazz officially revert to their original logo they had back when it was still in New Orleans, albeit with some updating toward it. The Jazz also have new, modified uniforms which actually now includes a short-sleeved pride version apparently inspired by their old warmups 30 years ago with secondary logos including returnees. Oh, and a new court too for the Vivent Arena:

Looking forward to the final Adidas NBA Christmas jerseys since we're now halfway a year away? An emphasis is made on the team colo(u)rs with some new quirks this time instead of the traditional Christmas colo(u)rs while still keeping the well-received template. Like to see the LA Clippers version far more so than what they normally wear:

As the NBA Finals moves back to Cleveland and the Quicken Loans Arena in what will be the last Cavaliers home game in Game 6 against the Golden St. Warriors, I wonder the Cavs will continue donning the black short-sleeved jerseys they wore last night in Oakland (and remember, LeBron James previously hated) and won in as opposed to those navy alternates for much of the palyoffs?

Along with the return of the Sacramento Kings 1985-88 road uniforms, the Dallas Mavericks green road uniforms and the Indiana Pacers' Hickory High "Hoosiers" tribute will make their Hardwood Classics returns next season. Coming up then will be the Toronto Raptors paying tribute to the 1946-47 road royal blue monochromatic Toronto Huskies uniforms, Philadelphia 76ERS' road 1960s uniforms, the Cleveland Cavaliers 1982-87 burnt orange road unis, Atlanta Hawks' early 1970s royal blue road uniforms, the New York Knicks home 1950s unis, and lastly the NDCELE home getups from 1978-1999:

Target Center in downtown Minneapolis now is undergoing a three-phase US$129.8 million renovation project with the City of Minneapolis government approved the plans to improve the fan experience. First renovation project in the Timberwolves' and Lynx's home 26-year history:

Seattle's planned SoDo arena for the new SuperSonics still up in the air. Ballmer just can't see Seattle returning to the NBA in the near future. I'm in agreement with him. Won't happen until around the next NBA TV deal strikes. After all both Sacramento and Milwaukee, franchises that of course Chris Hansen courted for Seattle, got new arenas forthcoming in those markets:

An additional Minnesota Timberwolves development aside from the Target Center's significant redevelopments is that Minnesota perhaps could get a rebranding that might see an updating of its original logo and jerseys with characteristics from its current logo from 1996 (with a significant tweaking from the 2008-09 season) by going back to its roots. If those respondents' renderings are an indicator and the updating of those jerseys, those will be great. Yes, return green with the royal blue, silver, and black!
