Depends if we get an import centre or not... just coz we signed Knight & are losing Jawai & Jervis doesnt mean we are planning to put Knight back in the centre gig... at least I am hoping not!

Today's West saying that they are waiting for Jawai to make a call on either staying here, heading to Melbourne where his girlfriend lives or to Cairns... Says that if he goes it is believed we are looking at Ekene Ibekwe.

He wouldn't be a bad signing. A Defensive minded C that still allows Knight to play PF. Would mean we still have to find a decent back-up C though.

I wish Jawai would make his mind up sooner....everyone else seems to be making moves and this is a road block for future decision making on personnel.

I would be happy to keep Jawai provided we put in some hard targets in terms of weight and physical conditioning during the off-season.

Now with Jervis gone, Jawai can't keep playing 20 mins a game and have back issues constantly hanging over the team. Although we all know you can't just fire him mid-season for staying out of shape.

Ibekwe is capable and would be a great addition to the team as a replacement for Jervis. Might be another avenue of scoring to have a C with mid-range, especially with Kinght saying he does not want to go back to C again.

I would like to get Nick Kay but would likely be tough as he is on everyone else's radar and would unlikely settle for bench role / minutes. Its doable though especially with Jawaii, thats 20 mins at the 5 there with potentially 5 mins of PF time as well if Jesse needs to cover the 3 (assuming we are losing Hire here).

Wildcats have started talks with Angus Brandt according to today's West...

I like it, Will be a great replacement for Jervis.

Didnt we fire that import many moons ago for being out of shape? Rashard Phillips or something like that? was the PG we got and I think we then replaced him with Gerald Brown.

Smiling Iverson, it wasn't his fitness, Scott Fisher didn't think he lead and controlled the team enough as a point guard.

So according to that link, Martin is still not signed to a contract:

Knight and forward Jesse Wagstaff are the only two players contracted at the Wildcats for next season, although a new deal for skipper and 2016 grand final MVP Damian Martin is expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Yet this link from the NBL free agent tracker says he is??

With the NBL's record, you'd have to back the other option, surely? Perhaps it's just that he's stated that he will take up his option and they're waiting on who else to get to finalise the amount? I'd hate to think that they would be taking advantage of Damo's good nature, but I think we can all expect that he's taking much less than what he could get elsewhere, so it's conceivable...

The same core with an upgraded import for Beal should be ok for another crack at the championship Id think. Only way Id bring Beal back is if he wants to play for bench money as that's how he played for most of last season. Becoming more and more inconsistent I feel and lacks pace on defence.

Martin/Beal if he wants to play for bench money
    Beal Replacement/Kenny
    Prather/Hire
    Knight/Wagstaff/Redhage
    Jawai/???

Yep, I've put faith in the NBL Player Tracker several times, & fallen on my face, each & every time.

I nominate that you take over the NBL Player Tracker, & be paid a mortgage busting salary for your efforts.

Of course, your first priority should be to nail down the Randle signing by the Adelaide 36ers, for 1 season.

Good news with Jarrod Kenny signing for 3 years!

    http://www.wildcats.com.au/featured-...enny-re-signs/

    Interestingly:

He joins Jesse Wagstaff and Matt Knight on the Perth Wildcats 2016/17 playing roster.
So even according to the Wildcats, Martin isn't contracted as yet.

You'd think a priority would be locking Damo in? Surely he's a lock, but it's curious that there's such a delay... Maybe Boti should cook up a conspiracy surrounding a fall out between him and Boti's mate, Nick?

Enough already, stop it, stop it, stop it with your Boti bag punchlines.

Maybe Marto's looking to fulfill him lifetime dream of playing under his childhood idol, & the jackpot of big money.

He's a lock I'm told, it's just seeing who they sign in the marquee/import spots apparently.

So he is signed for next season, having taken the option that he had, but is about to sign an extension to that year for another 2 on top, so 3 in total.

Great result, so worth the wait while being kept in the dark for so long.
