No furthwer developments regarding Montreal's NBA expansion pursuit obviously due to the pandemic these days. Also there's isn't anything new announcements about Montreal's more likely entry in CEBL or NBL Canada in the immediate years, although we may see an announcement soon online.

Karim Mane is this year's NBA international draftee mystery man even to Canadian basketball followers. What is certain is that his potential both in the NBA and Team Canada can further add Montreal's NBA contingent straight from Montreal's high school hoops via Vanier College. We'll see which NBA team call his name tonight:

Karim Mane didn't hear his name called on draft night in November. Matter of fact no Canadian actually did then. However, the extremely athletic combo guard Mane did manage to participate in the Orlando training camp...and made the Magic roster! Actually signed a two-way deal with Orlando and its affiliate Lakeland on November 27. The Dakar, Senegal-born player was offered scholarships from Kansas, Michigan St., Marquette, Maryland, Texas, and Wake Forest. Makes you wonder if he did take any one of them, even if for only a year, would his draft profile and selection skyrocket and be a first round selection?

Meanwhile, Mane scored his first NBA points being on the court for only four minutes by making his two free throws in the fourth quarter that contributes to the Orlando Magic's 105-94 victory over Cleveland on January 6:

Montreal is coming to the CEBL next summer in 2022, CEBL Commissioner Mike Morreale told CBC's Kwabena Oduro.

Montreal native and former 10-year NBA player (plus two years with Argentina's San Lorenzo) Joel Anthony returns to his Hamilton Honey Badgers Director of player development consultant post. Hopefully this year he'll have far greater player interaction

Chris Boucher continues in improving game and wowing his Raptors teammates despite his skinny frame and unorthodox style forcing him to come off the bench behind Aron Baynes. He's among the NBA's leaders in the blocked shots categories and scored a career high of 26 points:

No NBA team with a Montreal resident on the roster reached this year's NBA Playoffs. So this means Chris Boucher (Toronto Raptors), Khem Birch and Karim Mane (Orlando Magic), and Luguentz Dort (Oklahoma City Thunder) weren't going to extend their seasons beyond the regular season. The closest was Boucher with the Toronto Raptors playing in temporary exile in Tampa and finished behind the top ten at #12 in the East with a 27-45 record.

But we could possibly see Birch and Dort make the final Team Canada roster for Nick Nurse and for Montreal to gear up for the Victoria OQT after Canada's training camp in Tampa as part of the 21 accepted players right now. Boucher wrote on his Twitter handle that he won't continue on for Nurse with Canada as he rehabs his sprained his left knee following not playing in the last 9 games after not making the playoffs:

Actually, Karim Mane got waived by 21-51 Orlando in April 13:

Another article discussing the rising prominence of Quebec's basketball culture in producing future basketball stars, largely focusing of course on Montreal:

Back to Montreal's new incoming CEBL 2022 franchise. The CEBL named Annie Larouche, an executive director of the Alouettes Foundation and director of community relations for the Montreal Alouettes cheerleading team, Montreal's director. She's had experience being involved as a staff member with several short-lived Montreal pro sports franchises dating back from the 1990s. She'll use that to learn from past mistakes. Also there's a campaign right now for local fans' involvement to help submit and pick Montreal's name, colo(u)rs, logo, and mascot. Although it suggests that the Montreal CEBL team's colo(u)rs adopted will actually be red, blue, and white patterned like the Montreal Canadiens, Montreal Alouettes, and Montreal Expos:
