So with the signing of Johnson, the wildcats have announced that Beal won't be back and have thanked him:

    http://www.wildcats.com.au/featured-...jermaine-beal/

Interestingly, they have said that after Johnson's signing, there are 3 roster spots left. So one will be an import centre, one is the 11th man, but nothing about Redhage and if he is coming back. The free agent list had him as contracted, but I guess not:

    martin
    johnson
    prather
    knight
    import centre

    kenny
    hire
    wagstaff
    brandt
    redhage ??
    11th man

Redhage was training with the team yesterday. He should be back.

Verbally agreed. Saying "three roster spots" is more of a politically correct thing I would think.

I'd suggest Redhage will take the 11th-man role, and the remaining signings will be an import 5 and a backup 2.

I read in The West that Dexter Kernich-Drew was likely to be looked at as one of the 3 remaining signings.

I like the signing of Johnson... Looks to be a real exciting prospect.

3 starters who can block the crap out of you at any given time...and that's just the backcourt!

Perth have signed a new back up 2-man, Dexter Kernich-Drew.

DKD looks like a good signing for a 4th guard.

I sincerely hope his definition of a 'Knock Down Shooter' mirrors that of most people.

So the third import looks to be signed and done... looks like an undersized 5 tbh and from the video clips I have watched he looks pretty raw in terms of scoring ability (outside of dunks). Wildcats really are looking to go up tempo... will be interesting if this slides Knight back to the Centre spot.

How is he going to go up against the Andersens, Kazzouhs, Marics and Jawais?

Poor Matty....he said he wanted to and loved to stay at the 4.

Now some 5 duties are on the cards.

I think Angus Brandt will play a larger role than expected and will be more than capable against the bigger centres when required. Matty will stay at the 4 mostly I think.

Could see Matty Knight playing less minutes this season?

    PG - Damo / Kenny
    SG - Johnson / DKD / Hire
    SF - Prather / Redhage / Hire
    PF - Knight / Wagstaff / McKay
    C - McKay / Brandt

Is that how most see it? I think McKay they will still throw at the C spot due his wingspan and standing reach.

Nice looking team, but I think this is the most single season player turnover we've had in the past 5-10 years??
Will you take a 5 Dennis, take a 5 please!

Agreed. I wanted more of a traditional low post 5 but I guess between Matty, Angus and Jameel they all bring different strengths.

We've only lost Jawai, Beal and Jervis.

Daniels, Ross and U'u all left after 2015. Only Ennis and Burdon after 2014. Lisch, Carter, Robbins, Bartlett, Tovey, and Trueman all departed after 2013. Williamson and Nevill after 2012.

    So the last five years:
    2013 - 6
    2015, 2016 - 3
    2014, 2012 - 2

You want to go back further than that, you've got seven players leaving at the end of 2009 (Caporn, Crawford, Dowdell, Hinson, Victor, Knight, Loughton), possibly eight (not sure if McDonald and/or Goulding were DPs?). Four at the end of 08, and four at the end of 07.

So in answer to your question, not even close.

Bad News : Matt Knight is out for 2 Months.

Worse News : His replacement is Lucas Walker.

The IQ index of the team just halved.

To his credit, he was training with United, playing pre-season with the Bullets, now has a 2mth deal with the Wildcats, at least you're going to get someone keen to put in the effort and not a dodgy fill in import that couldn't be arsed...

Lucas Walker... oh dear lord no!

So Wagstaff and Redhage to play more minutes now I guess.

Love Matty Knight... But he's just injured so bloody often. Walker makes us even more athletic.

It looks like the new Mitchell and Ness 'Cats jerseys have been revealed. https://perthwildcats.shopdesq.com/jerseys

For me, these are a little disappointing. Red type / numbers on a (slightly lighter) red background is a big design no no. It creates no contrast and renders the numbers and type completely useless when viewed at a distance... which is the exact environment sports jerseys are seen in.

Solution? Black type / numbers with a strong white key line around them will work MUCH better on a red background.

    Thoughts?

Jeez, couple of teams really dropping the ball with the new designs... Completely agree that the darker red on the lighter red is a big mistake and such a simple one to make...

The black text is MUCH nicer...

    Agree Horgz

Any chance you can design all future Wildcats jerseys.

Matty Knight expected to miss only a handful of games. Might be a chance to miss only 2 games. No Bairstow or Knight for the opening match of the season.

Jerseys again don't have a lot of wow factor about them. But that's been the case for a while now.

The new design is horrific... Red on Red is shockingly bad and will be hard to make out from the back of Perth Arena. Can't believe they got it this wrong.

Someone actually looked at last year's jerseys and thought the only issue was that the font was too interesting and the text was too clear.

    Seriously.
