Umm they don't pick them in 5 units, there will be a 12 man team for the Olympics.

And some of those notable omissions are laughable!

So realistically, is this the squad?

    Bogut / Andersen
Baynes / Bairstow / Motum or Jawai
    Ingles / Broekhoff
    Delly / Newley / Goulding
Mills / Lisch (Delly as backup PG)

    thats some awful spacing.

man up on Mills, pack the paint with the rest.

In international basketball, is Baynes really considered a PF? He plays centre in the NBA, surely that makes you a centre pretty much everywhere?

    Goulding over Lisch.... really?

could we start Mills and Delly?

We'd be very small with a six foot point guard and a six-foot-four shooting guard

I think yes, Mills is very quick so use that as an advantage, and Delly is physical for his size, and plays bigger than he is, so use that.

I see that side of it but Delly is a streaky shooter so our spacing would be pretty ordinary. I'm not sure teams will be too worried about leaving him open to go double-team someone else.

If opponents want to leave Delly open at the three point line, that will suit us down to the ground, considering only six players in the NBA (Daniels, Redick, Curry, Leonard, Bayless and Lowry) have a better "catch-and-shoot" percentage from the arc this season: http://stats.nba.com/tracking/#!/pla...gular%20Season

(Worth noting that Patty Mills is also top ten.)

I think people might be surprised about how much better Delly is than last Olympics. Every time they're on national television guys like JVG are telling people that all the shutting down Steph, and dirty player talk have diverted attention away from how skilled he is offensively.

Delly was one of the best pick and roll guards in the country in college. His combination with Baynes was great at the last Olympics, and he's only improved his outside shooting and runner game since then. He's one of the most efficient players on the Cavs, beating out vet NBA players for minutes.

I get that people can find the JVG rants pointless and distracting, but he's still one of the best basketball minds on the national broadcasts. I can't think of too many regular commentators that might be more insightful, maybe Collins and Fratello?

I'd say both Collins and Fratello, though I like Collins' deep basketball mind more.

Dante Exum--OFF from the Boomers in their Rio 2016 campaign. And so is (in all likelihood) Andrew Bogut unfortunately:

I'm still holding out hope for Bogut. He did say he'd see in a month's time. I'd take him even if he didn't play in the pool matches.

Quite a few NBA players pulling out from team USA I hear, with a good squad might be able to get one over them should we meet

ATTENTION! Your Boomers 2016 Olympic team is now ready to conquer the world over in Rio De Janeiro! Bogut, Delly, Patty, Joe Ingles, Aron Baynes, and Cam Bairstow all headline this squad. David Andersen makes his 4th Olympic basketball squad. Lemanis certainly didn't forget the NBL players like former Saint Louis Billikens star and naturalized Aussie Kevin Lisch from Sydney!

    David Andersen
    Cameron Bairstow
    Aron Baynes
    Andrew Bogut
    Ryan Broekhoff
    Matthew Dellavedova
    Chris Goulding
    Joe Ingles
    Kevin Lisch
    Damian Martin
    Patrick Mills
    Brock Motum

THE 2016 AUSTRALIAN MEN'S OLYMPIC BASKETBALL TEAM

Couldn't expect the likes of Simmonds, Exum, Kickert, Jawai, Adam Gibson, and Cameron Gliddon to make it. Though Brad Newley was the last player cut by Lemanis, who needed to bolster other areas on the team as it emulates the Golden St. Warriors in playing the explosive, small-ball, was a bit of a shock:

I know this is supposed to be hypothetical but what did Nate do to deserve team mates as this.

As far as we know, we are the first and only instance of the Universe becoming aware of itself. Given long enough, carbon begins to wonder where it came from.

Is anybody aware of any LIVE online streaming of the Olympic basketball tournament? And I mean all games (Men and Women) not just the Australian teams - even if it is a paid subscription? Hopefully there are more options than Ch.7!
